BLUESIGN’s textile expertise is valued and trusted by numerous global players, working in the chemical industry, such as leading textile suppliers, among many others. The bluesign® SYSTEM functions as a holistic solution for safe and environmentally friendly textile production. By working with each step of the supply chain, BLUESIGN ensures that products can meet rigorous benchmarks that both adhere to social justice and are environmentally sound. By preventing hazardous chemicals from entering the input stream, the bluesign® SYSTEM creates a clean process that assures consumers that they’re purchasing a product that’s both sustainably produced and abides by the highest safety standards.
the bluesign® SYSTEM
Founded in 2000, the bluesign® SYSTEM functions as a sustainable textile production solution that eliminates harmful substances from the beginning of the manufacturing process, and later sets and controls standards for an environmentally friendly and safe production. This not only ensures that the final textile product meets very stringent consumer safety requirements worldwide, but also allows brands in the outdoor, sportswear and fashion industry to offer sustainable products to their consumers.
The Ellen MacArthur Foundation was launched in 2010 with the aim of accelerating the transition to the circular economy. Since its creation, the charity has emerged as a global thought leader, putting the circular economy on the agenda of decision makers around the world. In 2017, the Foundation launched the Make Fashion Circular Initiative which brings together leaders from across the fashion industry to collaborate and innovate towards a new textiles economy, aligned with the principles of a circular economy.
The Jeans Redesign
In 2019, Make Fashion Circular launched The Jeans Redesign, bringing together leading fashion brands and manufacturers to transform jeans production – tackling waste and pollution and the use of harmful practices. The guidelines have minimum requirements for garment durability, material health, recyclability and traceability and are intended to ensure jeans last longer, can easily be recycled, and are produced in a way that’s benign to both the environment and health of garment workers. The first edition of redesigned jeans will go on sale this year.
Haelixa is a traceability solutions provider who makes it possible for brands and manufacturers to mark and trace products from farm to retail. By creating a unique fingerprint for each party involved, we provide a forensic proof for the origin, authenticity and integrity of products. Our data is highly reliable, because we turn the product itself into the carrier of information about its origin and journey using a marker based on DNA that is solved in liquid and then applied to the product. The marker is harmless for humans and the environment, does not affect the properties of the product and is yet robust enough to withstand all industrial processing.
Integration of Haelixa
The Haelixa solution for textile fibers (i.e. cotton, wool, cashmere, silk, etc.) can easily be integrated into existing automated production processes. The read out can be done with the final product or any intermediate product with a simple test. And the results of the test can be uploaded into existing ERP or blockchain solutions.
